FDOT Powerline Road Mobility Improvement Project
Planned improvements for the $3.1 million project on Powerline will be installed between Commercial Boulevard and NW 29 Street.
The U.S. Department of Transportation awarded a grant to the Broward MPO and its partners to extend the Broward Regional Complete Street network. The Powerline Road Mobility Improvement Project is part of the MPO’s plan to create enhanced bicycle, pedestrian, and public transportation access throughout the Broward region.
Planned improvements for the $3.1 million project on Powerline will be installed between Commercial Boulevard and NW 29 Street and will include:
- Repurposing the existing outside travel lanes from Commercial Boulevard to West Oakland Park Boulevard to accommodate 7-foot buffered bicycle lanes and 4-foot raised landscaped islands in each direction
- Repurposing the outside lanes from West Oakland Park Boulevard to NW 29th Street to accommodate 4-foot bicycle lanes
- Milling and resurfacing of the corridor
- Installing landscaping and irrigation
FDOT plans to mobilize for construction on April 5, and estimates the project will be completed in Spring 2022. During construction, lane closures may occur in the project area along Powerline Road daily from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. For project information please visit the FDOT website at www.d4fdot.com.
